This morning I was awakened at 4:37am to the sensation of being jostled a bit. Or rather, my entire bed was shimmying like a bad 60's go-go dancer. My first thought was, oh, it's an earthquake. Seems I was right.

The last time I recall going through one of these was back in college. My friend Teresa and I were sharing an apartment and going to summer classes. I think I was stretched out on the couch after what I am sure was a tough day of learning. I can't remember where Teresa was exactly. In the kitchen maybe? Bedroom? Anyway, suddenly the couch started to move, the windows shook and I believe a picture or two popped off the wall. It lasted a couple of minutes and it was a bit exciting and strangely fun. Being Midwesterners, we got a good laugh out of it.
